Creativity working with AI

When Creativity Meets Consciousness In The Age Of AI

Lifestyle

AI has entered our creative lives whether we invited it for coffee or not. And honestly? I’m enjoying the ride.

When ChatGPT first appeared, I have to admit – I was a bit sceptical. But then it hit me: if I don’t embrace this now, I’ll be lagging behind those who do.

We’re the only generation that has lived without AI and witnessed its birth. Just like when the internet and mobile phones showed up back in the day, I’ve learned that fighting evolution is exhausting. Embracing it, on the other hand, is far more interesting.

So here we are.

I use AI to create images for blog posts, quotes, reflections – and sometimes just for fun. I also use it for content ideas, to spot my own blind spots while writing blog posts or emails, and to challenge my thinking. Just to name a few examples.

It helps me translate emotions and ideas into visuals that speak faster than words alone. It sparks creativity. It saves me several hours every every week. And it opens doors I might not even know exist yet.

And yet… Somewhere between fun and full transformation, a deeper question quietly appears. Especially when it comes to image creation. What will be our personal standards when creativity meets consciousness in the age of AI?

Fun Prompts, Symbolism & Playful Expression

When creativity meets consciousness in the age of AI

AI generated images using two slightly different prompts.

These above images are pure fun.

They’re symbolic, expressive, exaggerated on purpose. Prompts like:

  • “A confident woman leaving fear, worry and old stories behind”
  • “Celebrating endings and new beginnings”
  • “Visualising emotional decluttering”

Nothing here is pretending to be real. These images are visual metaphors – a creative language for inner shifts. And you might have noticed I’ve used these images both on this blog and on my social media.

This is where AI shines in my opinion. It helps us express, not impress.

Using prompts like this feels light, playful, and aligned. No identity confusion. No pressure. And no endless scrolling through royalty-free image sites for hours – only to still think, “meh… this isn’t quite it.”

Now we can use our imagination, feed AI a prompt, and let it do what it does best.

When AI Starts to Touch Us

Original photo to the left VS AI generated photo to the right… It looks like me, however, it is NOT me!

And this is where things get more interesting.

Here, AI isn’t just creating symbols – it’s creating versions of a person – ME. And in my opinion, this is worth having a conscious conversation about.

Stylised. Enhanced. Idealised. Still recognisable… however, no longer fully the real deal.

I’ve seen many examples online where images are clearly AI-enhanced, yet people insist they’re not. Is that acceptable? Do we want that? And more importantly – what does it do to how we see ourselves, our self-image?

I added the above “profile image” to my social media not long ago. No caption. No explanation. No mention of AI.

It was a little experiment – or maybe a challenge – to my audience. I was secretly hoping at least one person would comment with a question mark.

Instead, I got comments like:

  • “What a nice picture of you!”
  • “Beautiful photo. Looking very confident and happy”
  • “Great photo of you”
  • “Nice”

And that brings up an important question: Prompts can be used for fun, yes – but how far are we willing to go to alter images of ourselves just to look ‘better’?

At what point do we stop enhancing… and start replacing?

Is it still self-expression if the image slowly drifts away from who we actually are?

There’s no moral high ground here. Just awareness.

Enhancement vs Transformation

Original photo to the left vs AI-enhanced “professional” version to the right.

This comparison is subtle – and that’s exactly why it matters. It’s a very fine line.

On one side: a real photo. Natural light. Real skin. Real lines. On the other: more polished, softened, “perfected” as a “professional” photo.

Neither is wrong. However, I will claim that the intention matters.

  • Are we using AI to support clarity?
  • Or to hide humanity?
  • To refine an image – or to erase reality?

AI can absolutely help us look more professional. It can also quietly teach us that who we are as we are isn’t enough. That’s the line worth noticing.

From the original image, I asked AI to change my clothes, keep my arms relaxed by my sides, and add a necklace (which I forgot to put on when the photo was taken). Everything else stayed the same.

Why did I do this?
Because I wanted a clean, decluttered, professional-looking photo – without booking a photographer, scheduling a shoot, and paying for it.

The AI generated photo took less than a minute, and cost me nothing!

I showed both photos to my boyfriend (he’s not on Facebook), and he simply said: “I will always prefer the original version.” Not just flattery. Not just romance. Authenticity, right there.

So again, the question remains: How far are we willing to go when it comes to AI-enhanced images of ourselves?

The Question Beneath the Technology

AI generated quote images.

Let’s make one thing clear: AI is not the problem. Tools are neutral.

The real question is this: How much do we allow AI to enhance our creativity – without editing out our essence?

I use AI. I enjoy it. And I will keep using it. However, I choose to stay conscious.

The quote images above were created for my new brand, The E.V.A. Method™. And if you don’t mind me saying so – I think they look great! It took me about two minutes to create them with AI. If I were to do the same in Photoshop like I used to? That would easily take hours.

Now that is a brilliant way to use AI, wouldn’t you agree?

My voice, my energy, my imperfections – that’s the part no prompt can ever replace. That said, I have trained my AI tools to sound more like me. And I’m convinced there are many more ways I can deepen that collaboration – without losing myself in the process.

Let’s Talk (Because This Isn’t a Lecture)

I’d genuinely love to hear from you:

  • Are you using AI?
  • If yes – what for? Images, writing, ideas, planning, fun experiments?
  • Do you feel it supports your authenticity – or challenges it?

There’s no right or wrong here. Only honest reflection.

And maybe that’s the most human thing we can bring into an AI-powered world.
